I have 50 years Industry Experience with over 30 years in Offshore Oil and Gas. I commenced my career in UK in Refining with Esso and after spells in Pipelines and equipment I spent 8 years in international mining engineering with Selection Trust.
I joined BP in 1980 and have had a wide variety of roles in Pipelines, Subsea and Multiphase Flow and Chemical Plants. From 1990 to 2015 I was part of the leadership team in offshore developments including Subsea Project Manager for the Foinaven Development West of Shetlands, leading Deepwater R&D and Discipline Engineering in the Central Engineering functions.
In 2006 I became BP’s first Chief Engineer for Subsea and Floating Systems and retired in 2015 from a Senior Consultant role.
David Brookes is the winner of the Subsea 09 Greatest Individual Contribution to the Industry award.
Commenting on David's career, John Mair of Subsea 7, said: "I think Dave deserves this award, due to his international reputation, for his technical knowledge, his leadership and also the experience he's gained over the years on the projects. Dave is extremely approachable. You can go to Dave for a third-party opinion, or to tap into his global network. He views sharing information as important.”
Keith Williams of BP added: "David's one of the real statesmen of the subsea industry. He has worked in it for longer than most people, and the passion that he has, the delivery that he's done in his lifetime, and the significant contribution he's given to the collective part which is subsea, is immense.”
